title and font I choose this font title because it is big and bold and it stands out which gets the audience's attention as it is a new magazine so it is important that the target audience will end up recognising the magazine for it to be successful. i choose red, black and white because they are very contrasting colours and the black background allows the red and white writing to stand out even more. I decided to put an exclamation mark on my title because it shows that the magazine is exciting and strong just like DJ music. For the subheading I made it clear writing to make sure that the writing will stand out as it is very important. I made the subheading include 'biggest and best DJ' so that it would grab the audience's attention by making the subheading bias to the magazine so people will think it is the best magazine. I put DJ in capital letters to make sure the magazine would get the right target audience which is for people who like DJ music. I put the colours in white, black and red because they are not feminine colours or masculine colours so that the target audience will know it is for both genders. I put the pulse at the side because it made it look tidier and therefore it makes sure that the audience knows what the title of the magazine is so that it will get recognised.
model and props I used this image because it is related to my magazine because of the props I used. I made the model wear headphones so that everyone knew that it is a Dj magazine. I used a women so that it would attract men to the magazine but also attracts women to show that they can be a successful DJ with this magazine. I used a women DJ so that it was different as we dont really see girl DJs so it tells women that they can do it. I wanted a model who was blonde as it would get men's attention. I also wanted her to wear red lipstick to show she was a bit more 'up for it' and wanted a good time which is what the magazine is about being fun and loud!
i I made the image a mid-shot so that the audience would know she is the big story in the magazine and she is in the middle of the photo so that she is the centre of attention. I wanted her looking down with her eyes shut so it looked like she was 'feeling the music' and was concentrated. I also wanted her to look down so that it shows that she is holding back something so they will want to find out what it is as this image also shows some innocence as she is not looking directly at the camera. One hand is on the DJ stand and one is on the headphone. I wanted one hand on the dj stand so it looked like she was playing it and the other on her earphone because Djs normally put their hand over their headphone so they can hear it properly. I took this photo in decades so that it was in a nightclub to set the background which is related to the magazine. I cropped the photo so that the fire estinguisher was not in the photo to make it look more tidy. I made the photo blue so that it looked darker. when i did this the photo looked stronger and you normally associate DJing done in a dark place so i thought this was more appropriate for the magazine. I made the shot so that it looked like it was looking down on her so that you could get the focus of the hand on the DJ stand equipment. I wanted her in green as i thought it was the best colour to go with blue as they are very contrasting colours also i got the Dj equipment from decades so i could make it as realistic as possible.
For the writing on my front cover i made sure that they matched the coulours on my title so that it wasnt too hectic and confusing. i made sure that the writing got straight to the point so that the target audience would recognise what it was about straight away. i made the 'find out the top 20 djs' in a black background so that they knew it was an important part of the magazine so i also put it in the centre. Next i put DJ Casandra in capital letters and in white so that the audience would know she was important and was the women on the front cover of the magazine. i made the name white to show that she was related to the magazine so that the target audience knows that they can find out more about her inside the magazine. Then i focused on making the 'plus' i wanted to make the plus stand out so that the auidence would know there was more to the magazine so that they are getting their moneys worth. Underneath i put the font in red and then white on all three bulletpoints so that all the stories represented the magazine as it is the same colour as the title.
1) my media product does use, develop and challenge other conventions of real media products because when i was making my magazine i took lots of things from different magazine and applied it to my magazine to make it look unique and different from other magazines so it stood out as DJ mags are different and i wanted the magazine to be for the niche markt as it is an access to a new target audience.
title comparisonswhen i saw this title on another magazine i really liked the black background with the white title so i decided that i wanted to do this on my title so i stuck to this throughout my magazine. however i did like the writing what was on but then i noticed that it was quiet hard to read and i need my magazine to be recognisable straight away. so i changed the font of the title because i think this style is for a rap genre where as my magazine genre is more dance/Dj.

This picture is similar to mine because they are both looking down at the Dj stand. i wanted this on my photo because it expresses emotion as they both look like they are 'feeling the music'. It shows thaqt they are concentrating but show that they are enjoying themselves as they both show a little smile. Another similarity with this picture is that they both have their hair down which is more representative to men. they are both also showing so clevarage which also gets mens attention. i liked how she was playing the DJ as it is related to my genre so i decided that to make my photo related to the magazine i had to use a Dj stand to make it more believable. however the background is darker on the other photo the reason i wanted mine light was because i wanted it to stand out a bit more instead of it looking quiet gloomy. When i first drawed my magazine photo i made the model look towards the camera but since i seen this picture i decided to change it. when i drew it for the first time i wanted the models hair curly but then i changed my mind and wanted it straight as its more relatable to the audience i was accessing.
2) My media product represents particular social groups because of the genre of the magazine. As my magazine is Dj it is towards people who are in the ages of 18-30 but is a niche market which is an access to a new target audience. To show that this is the target audience i made sure that my model was around that age so that they would know it was for them. I also included props such as the DJ stand so that they know that it is about DJing straight away. Dj is not the normal magazine as it is not a very popular type of genre for a magazine. i choose Djing because i wanted a different type of target audience so that it would be new and 'fresh'. however now i looke back i could have included a twitter paragraph in my magazine content page and a facebook paragraph as that is the sort of target audience that would read this type of magazine as it is all about technology.
3) A media institute that might distrubute my media product could be iphone apps. Many people have iphones and they are the new updated technology. it could also be distributed online because a lot of people have access to the internet all over the world so you could go online and download it from a dj magazine website for people who are interested in Djing. Another way it could be distrubuted is the normal way which is print based. This is very affective because a lot of people go shopping who expect a magazine to be there. Another way that a DJ magazine could be distributed could be on cds as this relates to djing and many people who buy cds will be interested in this product. one other type of institute that might distribute my media product is qr codes as this is the new way to get things on your phone and is very effective as its quick and easy to do.
4) my target audience is for people who like parties and who like to watch the music channel on tv. It is also for people who buy music such as tiny tempa and DJ Fresh. It is quiet chavvy but yet fun. i also think the target audience should be for people who like 'living on the edge' as i think this is a very bold magazine.
5) My media product will attract the target audience with freebies because on my cover i have said they have a chance to win tickets to see DJ melane. the audience love a freebe and are likley to buy a magazine that has more products to it than a magazine because they think you are getting more than your money.
6) During this process of constructing this product i learned how to take different angle shots with a camera and being able to use the edits on the camera. i have also learned how to use photoshop. On photoshop i was able to adjust, delete and edit the photos and writing onto my magazine. I also used how to use different font for my magazine and picked the best one that i thought would best go with my magazine. on photoshop i also learned how to make different layers and how to move things to the back or the front of my magazine. I also used shapes for the background of my title and subheadings.for my prelim task i used publisher and learnt how to move the writing around and learned how to insert and delete different images.
7) prelim vs media product
For my prelim i didnt change the colour of the picture to make it stand out which makes my media product from cover so much better as i changed the colour of the picture to make it more strong and colourful. When i did my prelim i only used publisher. For my Pulse magazine i made sure that all the writing font was the same but in the prelim task i didnt make sure of this. This made my pulse magazine better because when i tried using different fonts some stood out more than others and i wanted all the writing to stand out, i also made a black background on my title so that it would stand out and would be easily recognised.
